My hen run was awash with feathers this weekend as a few of my hens have decided to go for their yearly big moult! ‘Big mama’, ‘Betty’ and ‘Brenda’ seem to be the main moulters and there were so many feathers, they were far too good to go to waste, so I crept around trying to capture and collect them all.
I am thinking that next season, when nesting begins again, they will be brilliant to put in my nesting dispenser! Also the long tailed tits LOVE feathers and line their beautiful domed nests with them…. I managed to collect quite a few…. watch out for them in all my nests in the spring!
