A Log Feeding Platform for the My Naturewatch Cam

I have continued experimenting with the little My Naturewatch cam (Check out my other blogs about this Raspberry Pi camera) and today, I left it set up, facing a little log feeding platform.  I know that rats will visit this area, as well as birds and the squirrel, so I know that it would be a busy spot.

I was not disappointed. When I got home, I logged onto the cam via wifi and was able to see the images. There were over 300, but I chose a selection. These are straight out of the camera… I have not edited them at all. I am pretty impressed. There are a few blurred images as the creatures were moving fast. I have the shutter speed on auto. You can change it, but as I was leaving the camera all day and the light conditions were variable, I decided auto was the best option. On the whole it worked well. The images are well exposed and pretty sharp. There looked like there were some interesting interactions between a large rat and 2 young squirrels!

These were a couple of my favourites….

One of my other favourites is this shot…. looks like the rat is planning revenge as the squirrel is stealing his glory!

I am loving this little set-up and this great little kit, all mounted into a plastic sandwich box!
