Blackcap in garden

Writer's picture: WildlifeKateWildlifeKate

I got up early this morning and went out for about an hour… up the lane and across the fields. The whole walk was full of birds singing! It was lovely. A moorhen is sitting on her nest, in a small farm pool, just up the lane. I might nip back tomorrow with my camera. Also saw quite a few yellowhammers in the hedges… none singing yet though. Returned to see a male blackcap in the garden. Really pleased as I had a pair around all last summer. Only saw him once but heard a song I didn’t recognise…. presume it was him. I must look it up on the Internet tomorrow to see what a blackcap sounds like.
