A month or so ago, I did a talk for Staff Wildlife Trust, Lichfield Group. They had also asked me if I would consider showing the members around my garden, which I agreed to do. We limited the numbers, as my garden is not that big and I wanted to be able to talk to people and explain abut what they were seeing.
Parking in the local pub, I met the group in the car park, along with Joan from West Midlands Hedgehog Rescue. My open garden was to raise money for Joan to help support her with the tireless work she does for hedgehogs in this region. Joan bought ‘Cellie’ , her tame hedgehog along so everyone could see him. Many people have never seen a hedgehog up close, other than one squashed on the road, sadly.
The work Joan does can be seen by clicking HERE …
We all walked up to my garden and I gave everyone a guided tour… pointing out my nest boxes, miles of cabling and explaining some of the projects I have undertaken over the last few years to attract wildlife. Everyone was very interested and it was lovely to share my garden with so many people!
I hope everyone enjoyed the visit… I had put a nest box on my drive, in which people could post a donation for West Midlands Hedgehog Rescue and we raised a super £63 for Joan to help her with her wonderful work! Thank you everyone for visiting… I may have a charity Open Day next year some time….
