Yes, at last we have some tiny, tiny blue tit chicks, which have started hatching today! I wasn’t really expecting any until mid next week, but when I watched the footage back this afternoon, I thought she was behaving a little differently…. she kept looking underneath and moving around. Then she got up and I got the first glimpse of the chicks. They must only be about 1 1/2 cm long…. but the male is bringing in food to her and she is then feeding it to the chicks. I also saw her remove one of the egg shells, taking it out of the nest and also watched her eat one of them. Very exciting! I am going to try and take some video and some pictures every day until they fledge and then create a file with a daily record showing their growth.
