It is becoming almost impossible to work from home, surrounded by 4 monitors, displaying 16 cams, which are just about all kicking into action! At times, I have to leave iCatcher Console doing its job and actually switch the monitors off so I can’t watch them!!
The first thing I do in the morning, is to go and check two cams in particular…. Prickly Diner – to see if I have had any more hedgehog visits and the Kestrel Box- to see if my tawny has returned. This morning, I sat down with a cuppa and checked the timeline of the Kestrel Box…. Fantastic! Another tawny visit. Sadly, I have not set these up for audio yet…. not as easy as it might seem due to the video servers I have and I cannot have audio on all the cams… I need to read up on it as this clip would have been brilliant with sound! This tawny called from the box and you can see its tawny breath in the cold air! This visit was about 5.30am. I am hoping it was calling its mate to come and have a look… it better hurry up as there is a lot of interest in this box this year!
Not only tawnies though…. at 9.30am, this special visitor… I can’t quite believe it!
This is the first time I have seen the kestrel here this year and I really hope he comes back, with his mate next time, before the stock doves move in! They have visited quite a few times over the last few days!
The hedgehog was back again last night and returned in the early hours as well to finish off some more snacks. It was the same individual. Hopefully we will see some others appearing soon over the coming weeks. The wood mice are also enjoying the feast and pop in and out just about all night!
A good friend, Pete Walkden suggested that the Prickly Diner was the perfect advertising space with the lights on in there….. tonight, we are advertising the Hedgehog Preservation Society! Hopefully the hedgehog will appreciate the measures I am going to, to help him and his fellow hogs! Check out the Hedgehog Preservation Societywebsite and see how you can help this endangered mammal by making your garden more hedgehog friendly.
My blackbird has continued to work hard on her nest and it looks just about finished. Of you check out my website front page, you will find links to all my wired cams now, with links both to this year’s footage and any previous footage.
Finally….. rats!!!! I filled hedgecam up this morning and within a few minutes, the rats were up there. I nipped out with the Bushnell NatureView HD Max, close focus and got some cracking footage which I will upload tomorrow. I also took a few photos from my office. I love these guys! They are so brilliant to watch and did very good impersonations of hamsters today, packing the food into their mouths and carrying it back down 6 ft of prickly blackthorn hedge! #gallery-6430-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-6430-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-6430-1 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-6430-1 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Finally for today, I hear from other sources….. mainly texts to my two kids… that I am in the Lichfield Mercury today… was a bit embarrassed to find out they have deemed me a ‘Star Attraction’… oh well… no pressure then!
