The blackbird eggs start to hatch!

Writer: WildlifeKateWildlifeKate

I came up to check on my blackbird camera this afternoon and was delighted to see that two tiny chicks had hatched! I think I can see another two intact eggs still in there, so fingers crossed, maybe I will have four tiny chicks. Mrs B came in a number of times, bringing in little beakfuls of small worms and insects. It amazes me that they know to bring in only tiny food at this stage.

The male came in a number of times when the female was off the nest. He seems a little bemused…. did not bring in any food, but kept just looking at the chicks. Maybe it is his first clutch! I hope instinct kicks in soon and he starts working alongside the female in raising this new little family.

The female needs to give him a few lessons!…..
