I was delighted today to have a small flock of redwings in and around the garden. A couple seemed to very much take a fancy to the holly berries, on the edge of my patio. In the 13 years I have lived here, I have never had as many berries on this holly as there have been this year, nor have I had the redwings so close! I sat in the conservatory for about ten minutes and was lucky enough to have one individual come to feed. It was very nervous, so I did not move much and some of the shots it is part hidden by foliage. I was just thrilled to have it so close to the house and even more pleased to have been able to bag a few shots of it.
I walked up the bridle path with my dog today and the hedgerow there is absolutely weighted down with holly berries, so I will be keeping a close eye on them… fieldfare and redwing feast!
