Mr B makes an appearance!

Writer: WildlifeKateWildlifeKate

After commenting yesterday that I had seen nothing of the male, he appeared briefly today when the female left the nest. He had a good look in the nest. I presume he is doing this on a daily basis and the hatching of the chicks, their calls and gapes will trigger his instinct to start bringing in food. We should see some hatching action in the coming days. Meanwhile, the female is incubating, but looking underneath her a lot still. Does she know that they are close to hatching? I know some chicks start calling from within the egg. I also thought I saw four eggs briefly today. We’ll soon see hopefully!

… then female returns, checks her clutch and settles down….
