February Sunshine on Red Grouse…..

Heading down from the snowy slopes with hares, we went in search of wildlife of the feathered kind…. red grouse. The February sunshine was getting low in the sky and this meant it cast a lovely, soft light across the heather. We drove along the road, looking out for grouse which were feeding on any new heather shoots brave enough to venture into the cold air!

Red Grouse are beautiful birds and the sun really brought out the beautiful, intricate patterns in their plumage. Here are a few of my favourite shots from the time we spent there….
