Creating imaginative nesting opportunities….

My aim this winter is to try to create some nesting opportunities within the garden for both photographic and cam potential. My first attempt is with an old clay plant pot that was a little cracked and broken. My idea was to set it at an angle, inside some ivy and see if I could attract a robin to nest in it. Robins have been known to nest in unusual containers… such as teapots and I plan on getting a few of those and hiding them around the garden as well.

The slideshow shows what I did with the pot: I used some garden wire through the holes at the base to secure the pot deep within the ivy on a dead tree stump. I angled the pot downwards to create a suitable perch and space to build a nest. I would the ivy around the opening and made sue it was not too obvious from the outside.
