MEADOW VIEW
Update May 1st:
We have chicks!
May 19th 5 chicks doing well
May 22nd 5 chicks successfully fledged!
I built this box in 2024 and great tits nested in it. They are already checking it out again. The box is a sturdy wooden build, lined with bark. It faces out onto a meadow, on the very edge of my property.
2025 - The great tits, once again raised their family in here. 5 chicks fledged on May 22nd.

IVY CABIN
Update 29th April:
No confirmed tenants yet
I built this rustic box in 2024, and positioned it low in a brambly, ivy clad position, hoping that it might attract something interesting. It is mounted on the edge of a wooded strip, overlooking a field adjacent to mygarden. In fact, nothing nested in it. This year so far, both blue tits and great tits have looked in.

LOG LODGE
Update 29th April:
Great tits incubating 5 eggs
16th May: Sadly, the parents failed to return to nest today and the 5 chicks died. No idea what happened.
This nest box is made from a hollow birch log. I adapted it to house a camera and lights. In 2024, great tits nested here and successfully raised their family. The box is mounted on an Ash tree, facing a beautiful meadow area adjacent to my garden. The great tits are checking it out again and I think they will nest here again.
2025 - As of last year, great tits nested in this box. All 5 eggs laid, hatched and the family was doing really well until, on the 16th May, I returned home from working away, to see all 5 chicks dead. Playing back the footage, I could see that the parents did not return to the nest all day. I have no idea what happened. It was very sad to see.

QUARRY TOP
Update 29th April:
We have chicks!!
May 18th: 4 chicks fledged
I made this box several years ago and it has always had occupants. Blue tits, great tits and nuthatches have checked it out and blue tits raised their family in there in 2024. The box is mounted in a strip of woodland at the top of my quarry.
The story so far......
GWYLLT HOLLOW TAWNY OWL BOXES

After hearing Tawny owls calling in my garden, I was keen to get some boxes up for them. One of these is a home made one and the other is an eco, recycled plastic nest box.
This is one of two owl boxes I have installed. I built this one myself and it has both an internal and an external camera. The box is installed at the very top of my quarry with wonderful views and an excellent flight path in. I have everything crossed for occupancy and there have been promising visits......

This recycled plastic owl box is lined with bark and mounted in an oak tree in a small copse, after the tree I originally mounted it in, was blown down in Storm Darrah. The tawnies have looked in.
